We are a couple, Matricia Lana and Lucho Iglesias. We bought this land some years ago with the aim of creating a place to experiment and divulge a sustainable way of life, following permaculture design and natural living principles.

Thanks to the help received from family, many friends and volunteers (more than 500 people have come to Permaculturacañadulce so far), it is now possible for us to organise courses in which you may learn and experiment new things to improve your life. Or to rent you a cosy and bioclimatic hut where to feel the luxury of simplicity (see visit us).

Matricia Lana got to know permaculture in 95 in La Galería de Arte Elemental with Luciano Furcas y Sheena Lamb. Then she did a permaculture course with Emilia Hazelip on the farm La Reunión, in the outskirts of Madrid. There she met Lucho and they started a path together.

They have worked together in traditional, organic and byodinamic farms. They have collaborated in permaculture projects as volunteers and coordinators. All that with the main aim of creating a place where to expand a simple, respectful and cosy way of life.


Matricia has a degree in English Philology at the Salamanca University. She is a Spanish and Kundalini Yoga teacher.

She has worked in diferent branches of education (Montessori School, private lessons and others). She has worked in England, Irland and Germany.

She has done transpersonal psycology, self-expression through movement, African dance, singing and vegetarian food courses.

She does Yoga since 12 years ago with different schools: Hatha,GFU (The Big Universal Fraternity), Kundalini and Iyengar. She practised for three years the Physical Mind meditations.

In 2002 she started her training as a teacher of Kundalini Yoga in Avagar School in Madrid, which is registered in AEKY (Spanish Association of Kundalini Yoga) and in KRI (International Association of Kundalini Yoga).
In 2004 she participated in the White Tantra organised in Madrid and in the Kundalini Yoga Festival of Fondjouan, France.
In September 2005 she completed a course in Yoga for children with Gurudas Kaur "Childplay" in Madrid.
She has been a vegetarian since 94 and a vegan since 99.

Lucho Iglesias is a permaculturist and a self-builder.

He has worked as a builder for over 15 years.

He has also worked within the ecology movement from an early age, working with numerous organisations involved in nature preservation and restoration.

In 1992 he discovered permaculture and has since transformed his city life little by little until he dedicates himself full-time to permaculture. Lucho has much experience working in traditional, organic and biodynamic farms. He has had different experiences in community life and permaculture centres as both a volunteer and coordinator.

In 1995 he did a permaculture course with Emilia Hazelip.

Lucho feels attracted to native cultures and alternative ways of life. He travelled to North Africa where he met the Berbers and to South America where he spent time with the Kogui, Araguacos and Wayu to learn from them their harmonic and sustainable life systems.

Food is one of his main passions in life and has experimented with diet since 92. He has been vegan since 99.

Permacultura Caña Dulce´s design is his most direct creation.
